Search engines (Google, Bing and others) use it to discover your pages faster and to see which ones changed recently. An up-to-date sitemap is a cornerstone of organic search.<\/p>\n\n<p>The sitemap is generated on your own server and is never sent anywhere. No API key and no account are required.<\/p>\n\n<p>One optional feature does contact the outside: if you enable \"Notify search engines on publish\", the plugin pings Google and Bing with the address of your sitemap. It is <strong>off by default<\/strong>, and it is the only outside request the plugin makes (see External services).<\/p>\n\n<h4>Features<\/h4>\n\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Complete XML sitemap<\/strong> \u2014 home page, published posts and pages, at <code>\/aiforya-sitemap.xml<\/code>.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Post type selection<\/strong> \u2014 choose which public post types to include (posts, pages, custom types).<\/li>\n<li><strong>Categories and tags<\/strong> \u2014 optionally include category and tag archives.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Last modified dates<\/strong> \u2014 every URL carries its last modification date (<code>lastmod<\/code>) in the standard format.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Adjustable URL limit<\/strong> \u2014 control how many URLs are listed (1 to 2000).<\/li>\n<li><strong>Optional publish notification<\/strong> \u2014 automatically tell Google and Bing about your sitemap when you publish.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n<h4>Privacy<\/h4>\n\n<p>The sitemap is generated directly on your server and is never transmitted to a third party. The publish notification is off by default; when you enable it, only the public address of your sitemap is sent to Google and Bing \u2014 no personal data.<\/p>\n\n<h4>Advanced version<\/h4>\n\n<p>An advanced version (see aiforya.fr) adds multiple and paginated sitemaps, images and news, and custom priorities and frequencies. This free version is fully functional on its own, with no time limit.<\/p>\n\n<h3>External services<\/h3>\n\n<p>This plugin contacts search engines <strong>only<\/strong> if you enable the optional \"Notify search engines on publish\" setting, which is <strong>disabled by default<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Google<\/strong> (<code>https:\/\/www.google.com<\/code>) and <strong>Bing<\/strong> (<code>https:\/\/www.bing.com<\/code>) \u2014 when the option is enabled, each time you publish content the plugin sends them the public address of your sitemap (<code>\/aiforya-sitemap.xml<\/code>) to signal the update. Only that URL is sent; no personal data is transmitted.\n\n<ul>\n<li>Google terms: https:\/\/policies.google.com\/terms \u2014 privacy: https:\/\/policies.google.com\/privacy<\/li>\n<li>Bing (Microsoft) terms: https:\/\/www.microsoft.com\/servicesagreement \u2014 privacy: https:\/\/privacy.microsoft.com\/privacystatement<\/li>\n<\/ul><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n<p>With the option disabled, sitemap generation, the sitemap index and content exclusion all work with no network call at all.<\/p>\n\n<!--section=installation-->\n<ol>\n<li>Install and activate the plugin.<\/li>\n<li>Open the <strong>AIFORYA Sitemap<\/strong> menu.<\/li>\n<li>In the <strong>Settings<\/strong> tab, choose the post types to include.<\/li>\n<li>In the <strong>Overview<\/strong> tab, copy the sitemap address and submit it in Google Search Console.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n<!--section=faq-->\n<dl>\n<dt id=\"where%20is%20my%20sitemap%3F\"><h3>Where is my sitemap?<\/h3><\/dt>\n<dd><p>At your site address followed by \"\/aiforya-sitemap.xml\". The Overview tab shows the exact, clickable link.<\/p><\/dd>\n<dt id=\"what%20content%20is%20included%3F\"><h3>What content is included?<\/h3><\/dt>\n<dd><p>The home page, plus published posts and pages of the post types you select. You can also include category and tag archives.<\/p><\/dd>\n<dt id=\"should%20i%20submit%20the%20sitemap%20to%20google%3F\"><h3>Should I submit the sitemap to Google?<\/h3><\/dt>\n<dd><p>For best results, add the sitemap address in Google Search Console and the Bing equivalent. You can also enable the automatic publish notification.<\/p><\/dd>\n<dt id=\"do%20i%20need%20an%20api%20key%3F\"><h3>Do I need an API key?<\/h3><\/dt>\n<dd><p>No. This free version is entirely self-contained and generates the sitemap directly on your server.<\/p><\/dd>\n<dt id=\"does%20the%20plugin%20contact%20anyone%3F\"><h3>Does the plugin contact anyone?<\/h3><\/dt>\n<dd><p>Only if you enable \"Notify search engines on publish\". It is off by default. When enabled, it sends only your sitemap URL to Google and Bing \u2014 nothing else.<\/p><\/dd>\n<dt id=\"where%20do%20i%20get%20support%3F\"><h3>Where do I get support?<\/h3><\/dt>\n<dd><p>Through the support forum of this plugin on WordPress.org.<\/p><\/dd>\n\n<\/dl>\n\n<!--section=changelog-->\n<h4>1.0.2<\/h4>\n\n<ul>\n<li>Shared admin UI: the close button of the notice bar had a French <code>aria-label<\/code>, which screen readers announced in French on an English site. It is now in English.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n<h4>1.0.1<\/h4>\n\n<ul>\n<li>The built-in help and FAQ can now be translated. In 1.0.0 those answers were hard-coded English text that no translation could reach.<\/li>\n<li>Links in the plugin header now point to the English pages of our site instead of the French ones.<\/li>\n<li>Internal cleanup of the settings screen and of the AJAX handler.
