## Description

#### Notify every WordPress post change!

You want to **be notified** when one of your contributors have submitted a new post
for revision or an editor published one? Vice versa you want to **notify your contributors**
when their posts got published?
This is just the beginning of what you can achieve
with Post Status Notifier (PSN)!

It works with all kind of **custom post types**, supports all **custom taxonomies**
like categories and tags other plugins are using. You can grab all these taxonomy
values and custom fields attached to a post and use them as **placeholders** in
your custom notification texts. PSN has a powerful **conditional template syntax**
featuring many filters and functions to get the most out of the placeholders!

Define as many notification rules as you need with all kind of settings, like custom**
CC**, **BCC** and **FROM** emails addresses. PSN is **extensible**! Build your custom
module to implement a new notification service.

PSN works great with plugins like **WP Job Manager** ([read more](https://www.ifeelweb.de/2014/666/notify-wp-job-manager-listings-wordpress-plugin-post-status-notifier/)),
Calendarize.it ([read more](https://www.ifeelweb.de/2014/748/notify-calendarize-events-wordpress-plugin-post-status-notifier/)),**
Crowdfunding by Astoundify** ([read more](https://www.ifeelweb.de/2014/706/notify-payments-crowdfunding-astoundify-post-status-notifier/))
or **Advanced Custom Fields**, just to name a few. The possibilities are endless.
Want to **automate your publishing workflow** with [Buffer](https://bufferapp.com/)?
No problem!

Works good but you cant remove the footer credits unless you buy the pro version.
I have a site with 10,000 users and I dont want them to see a “generated with this
plugin…” text in the footer. Not worth buying just to remove footer credits better
off finding a different plugin or coding it yourself

## Changelog

= 1.13.1

 * Security: Tightened the admin XSS fix from 1.13.0 with an input-side sanitisation
step. The `mod`, `controller` and `action` query parameters that drive the admin
router are now restricted to `[A-Za-z0-9_-]` before any downstream code reads
them. Complements the output escape that already shipped in 1.13.0.
 * Compliance: Pass over the plugin and the bundled framework against the WordPress
Plugin Check guidelines — added the missing `ABSPATH` guards, escaped exception
messages at the throw site, switched a handful of admin echoes to their `esc_*`
counterparts, and routed installer SQL through `$wpdb->prepare()` where applicable.
   No behaviour change.

= 1.13.0

New transactional mail providers (Premium)

 * Added: Brevo (formerly Sendinblue) mail backend. Sends notifications via the
Brevo REST API. Free tier sustains typical PSN volumes; EU-jurisdiction-friendly.
 * Added: Sendgrid (Twilio) mail backend. Free tier 100 mails/day.
 * Added: Postmark mail backend. Deliverability-focused paid provider.
 * Added: Mailgun mail backend. Sending domain auto-derived from the configured
sender e-mail; region picker for US (api.mailgun.net, default) and EU (api.eu.
   mailgun.net) accounts.
 * Added: Amazon SES (v2) mail backend with AWS Signature V4 authentication. Cheapest
option at $0.10 per 1k mails.
 * Added: New options under Options Advanced “Transactional mail API” — provider
dropdown, API key (encrypted at rest), sender identity, response logging. AWS
SES adds access-key-ID and region fields.

New features

 * Added: Category filter “Match mode” (Premium). Switch between OR (post has at
least one selected category — the historical default) and AND (post has all selected).
Existing rules keep their OR behaviour.
 * Added: WP-CLI commands `wp psn rule list / get / create / delete` for scripted
   rule management.
 * Added: Rejection-reason field in the post submit box (Premium). Enter a free-
text reason when moving a post away from publish; the next notification resolves
the new [rejection_reason] placeholder with your text and clears it after sending.
Works in both Classic Editor (textarea in the Publish meta-box) and Gutenberg(
   sidebar panel under “Settings”).
 * Added: REST API endpoints under /psn/v1/ for admin-only data fetches (rules list,
logs list, mail-queue details). The classic admin-ajax handlers remain registered
   for backwards compatibility.

Security

 * Security: AJAX endpoints in the admin area now additionally require the manage_options
capability (defense in depth on top of the existing nonce check).
 * Security: Hardened internal unserialize() calls with allowed_classes=false on
   rule and mail-queue data.
 * Security: Replaced the bundled CKEditor 4.5.5 (~4.9 MB, end of life with known
XSS CVEs) with the WordPress core editor (TinyMCE + code editor). HTML mail templates
keep WYSIWYG editing and HTML source view with syntax highlighting.
 * Security: Escaped mail headers in the Mail-Queue detail dialog (legacy admin-
ajax handler). Headers are now rendered through esc_html(), matching the newer
REST controller. Closes a stored-XSS surface where an admin who saved a rule “
From” / “Reply-To” containing HTML could execute script in the browser of any
   other admin opening the dialog.
 * Security: The “Block notifications” checkbox in the post submit box (Premium)
now requires a per-post nonce and an edit_post capability check before the flag
is persisted. Previously the meta value was written on every admin request that
carried a post_ID, which allowed any logged-in user to flip the flag on arbitrary
   posts via CSRF.
 * Security: The “Rejection reason” field in the post submit box (Premium) now also
requires a per-post nonce in addition to the existing edit_post capability check,
closing a CSRF that allowed an attacker to overwrite a victim’s rejection reason
on any post the victim can edit.
 * Security: Escaped ‘”‘ and ‘\’ in placeholder values before they are substituted
into the Twig “placeholders_filters” expression. Prevents post-content / post-
title payloads from breaking out of the quoted Twig string and injecting filter
expressions that would be rendered under the admin context owning the rule.
 * Security: Escaped reflected $_REQUEST[‘page’] in five list-table row-action URLs(
Premium rules, HtmlMails templates, Recipients lists, Mail queue, Mail queue
log). The value is now wrapped in esc_attr() before interpolation, matching the
canonical pattern in the core rules list table.
 * Security: When shortcode rendering is enabled for notification body or subject,
   shortcodes in contributor-controlled placeholder values (post_title, post_content,
custom fields, …) are now stripped before substitution. Admin-typed shortcodes
in the template body / subject continue to render; only contributor-supplied
shortcode markup is blocked, preventing post content from triggering arbitrary
registered shortcodes when the notification is generated.
 * Security: Hardened rule status / post-type matching to strict comparisons (==
   = / !==) and added strict-mode in_array() for post whitelist / blacklist lookups.
No behavioural change for current string / integer rule data; closes a defence-
in-depth gap against future type-juggling drift.
 * Security: Fixed a reflected XSS in the admin error view. An invalid `mod` (module)
query parameter on the plugin admin page caused Zend’s ViewRenderer to throw
an exception whose message echoed the raw parameter value back into the error
template unescaped. The template now runs all exception fields (message, file,
line, trace) through the view’s escape helper. Exploitation required an already-
authenticated administrator session, but the URL was usable as a one-click reflected
   XSS payload.

Fixes

 * Fixed: The “Identical emails threshold” option is now enforced with a 2-second
default on fresh installs. Previously the UI advertised “Default: 2” but the
runtime treated the unsaved option as disabled, allowing duplicate notifications
   during cascading post saves.
 * Fixed: Cross-rule duplicate notifications. The dedupe key is now the resolved
mail content (recipient + subject + body) instead of (rule id + post id + recipient).
Two rules that produce the exact same mail to the same person now collapse into
a single notification; rules that differ in any character continue to fire independently.
 * Fixed: Several PHP 8.1+ deprecations and warnings in the rule-matching path (
   explode-on-null, unserialize on a non-serialized recipient value).

Removed

 * Removed: Mandrill integration. Mandrill stopped offering its free tier in 2016(
Mailchimp Transactional). Notification mail now uses the default WordPress mailer
or any of the new transactional-API backends; configure under Options Advanced.
Stored Mandrill API keys remain in the database but are no longer read.

Compatibility

 * Changed: Minimum PHP raised to 8.1, minimum WordPress to 5.5, tested up to WordPress
   6.9.
 * Changed: PHPStan target bumped to PHP 8.1; PHPDoc cleanup across the selftest
   classes and list-table column callbacks.
